Every year, the Oxford Dictionary chooses a word of the year by drawing inspiration from cultural and linguistic trends.
Given how social media has come to dominate nearly every aspect of our daily lives, it’s no surprise that the last few words of the year have come from platforms like TikTok – the most recent winner being “rage bait,” a term used to describe online content that is deliberately designed to stoke anger or cause offense.
